Downloadable Audio Books Coming in April 2010
In August 2009, NC LIVE received a $300,000 grant from the State Library of North Carolina to use toward a one-time content purchase. NC LIVE staff, in collaboration with the
Resources Advisory Committee, selected content that would address several high-need areas in the current collection in several various formats including eBooks, video, and downloadable Audio Books.
As a part of that one-time purchase, NC LIVE is purchasing downloadable Audio Book content from Ingram Digital to be delivered via the MyiLibrary eAudio platform.
More than 700 new Audio Books will be available for download for use with iPods and MP3 players for both PC and Mac operating systems.
Beginning early this spring, NC LIVE will begin testing the new Audio Books with several pilot locations. In April 2010, NC LIVE will deploy the new downloadable Audio Books for all North Carolina libraries.
