Last week, NC LIVE staff attended the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Annual Conference in Greenville, NC. On August 26 and 27, nearly 400 county commissioners, managers, and others involved in county government from around the state met up to discuss issues and services of local governments.
On Monday, August 2nd, NC LIVE was invited to talk about Back to School Resources on Raleigh's NBC-17 morning talk show, My Carolina Today. NC LIVE shares with My Carolina Today viewers how to use their free resources to help students with their homework and other research projects they may be assigned in the school year.

NC LIVE is gearing up to formally release it's new website on July 6, 2010. In January, NC LIVE released the beta version of the site redesign for preview by library staff and patrons across the state. The new site makes use of Drupal, a Content Management System popular in libraries, and is fully functional and available for use from http://new.nclive.org.
On April 15, 2010, NC LIVE began offering a new collection of downloadable audio books through Ingram Digital's MyiLibrary Audio Book Platform. The initial collection contained 750 titles, focusing primarily on language learning, history, biography, and classic literature. The eAudio content is downloadable to either an iPod or MP3 player, and playable on a PC or Mac computer.
Wondering how you can start preparing for National Library Week?
Beginning in April 2010, NC LIVE will begin rolling out the new MyiLibrary audio books platform to all member libraries, adding 750 downloadable eAudio Book titles for use by library patrons across the state. We will contact your library as they become available.
The new eAudio content is available from the MyiLibrary Audio Books platform and will be downloadable to either an iPod or MP3 player, as well as playable on a PC or Mac computer. Stay tuned for more information on when these new audio books will be available at your library!

In August 2009, NC LIVE received a $300,000 grant from the State Library of North Carolina to use toward a one-time content purchase. NC LIVE staff, in collaboration with the
Resources Advisory Committee, selected content that would address several high-need areas in the current collection in several various formats including eBooks, video, and downloadable Audio Books.
